Don't be a Bullshitter...
We're watching.
That's our mission - to call out the BS that's making this field look stupid.
You know, the charging people for certificates, the being certified in
the first place, the courses that you charge for that teach people how
to hunt ghosts when they can learn it on a ton of decent websites or
well written books for free, the making up evidence to get on TV (you
know who you are), the head lamps, the baggy t-shirts, the orbs, the
"phantom voices" that are really motorcycles in the background - all of
it.
Don't make ghost hunters be the next Trekkies.
Love,
The Ghost Divas
So, you're a certified ghost hunter, huh?
Pray tell,
where did you get certified and who certified you? And where did they
get the omnipotent power to certify anyone to be a ghost hunter? Are
you serious? Ghost hunting, paranormal investigating, whatever you call
it - is not a science no matter how much we would like it to be and
none of us are scientists unless we have received a degree in science
from an accredited university. We can read books and we can learn from
people that have been doing it longer than us, but frankly, I think if
you were duped into paying anyone to give you some kind of certificate,
you may have had a lapse in judgment. There is no real course you must
pass to be a ghost hunter. There are no books you must read to be a
ghost hunter.
Are you charging people to "analyze" their EVP or
pictures? Really? Again - what makes you an "expert"? There are no
"experts" in ghost hunting. You can act professionally and you can
obtain knowledge, but that does not make you an "expert". You can't be
an expert in something that there are no real answers to. I can print
anyone a certificate but it won't be worth a thing.
Seriously,
those of us that do this are rarely taken seriously anyway and then
people go about handing out goofy certificates to each other and
claiming to be ghost experts. Get over yourselves, you're not all that.
You're a ghost hunter. That's an awful lot like being a Trekkie. TV has
glorified our hobby quite a bit and it is gaining new respect (although
some of the TV hype is not how I wish to be portrayed) so while we're
in the culture spotlight for a while, why not do what we can to make
positive strides rather than touting false credentials? It's like
saying you got your MD from an online correspondence course. The
general public might fall for it, but your "peers" are not.
So what's all the ruckus about?
